How to Fill In Your Copy Doc
Your copy doc is where you write the words that appear on your live pages. Everything you write goes in exactly as written, so this is your finished copy, not a rough draft.
Step 1: Make your copy
Click the Client Copy Doc link on your intake form, then click Make a copy. This saves your own editable version to your Google Drive.
You’ll need to be signed in to a Google account.
Step 2: Find your template
Your doc has two templates. Fill in the one that matches the site type you chose at checkout:
- Sales Page: use the Sales Page Copy Template.
- Calendar Booking Page: use the Calendar Booking Page Copy Template. It’s lighter, with no full sales-page sections.
- Both: fill in both templates.
Each template follows your live page from top to bottom, so you can picture where every section will appear.
Step 3: Write your copy
Write directly in the doc, under each section heading. Each section includes a short prompt describing what goes there.
A few guidelines:
- Write it the way you want visitors to read it. Your copy is placed exactly as written. I don’t edit or polish it.
- Write in your own voice. The way you’d actually talk to a client works best.
- Skip what doesn’t apply. If a section isn’t part of your page, leave it labeled [not applicable] and it’ll be skipped. Featured In and Testimonials are fine to leave blank if you don’t have them yet.
- Keep FAQs logistical. Timing, access, and how things work. Objections belong in the “Even If” section.
- Page copy only. Emails and automated notifications are handled separately and aren’t part of this doc.
How long will it take? If your copy is already written, pasting it in takes about 30 minutes (about 45 if you’re filling in both templates). If you’re writing from scratch, plan for a few sessions.
Step 4: Share access
Before you send your link, make sure I can open it:
- Click Share in the top right of your doc.
- Under General access, choose Anyone with the link.
- Click Copy link.
Step 5: Send me your doc
You have two options:
- On your intake form: select I’ll provide this now and paste your link into the Copy doc link field.
- Later: select Not ready — use placeholder copy on your intake form, then reply to your onboarding email with your link once it’s ready.
What if my copy isn’t ready?
Your build won’t wait for it. Your build starts when your intake form is submitted, and you’ll receive reminders to send your doc.
If your copy arrives too late to include, your pages ship with bracketed placeholder text, like [Your story — why you do this work]. After handoff, search each page for square brackets and replace the placeholders with your own words. Your build handoff checklist walks you through it.
